I knew Devika was a creative force from the very first conversation we had. Our talks always lead somewhere unexpected and to my delight, we would delve into textiles, artistry and life.

Devika is the owner and founder of Peaceware, a Davidson, North Carolina-based company dedicated to preserving traditional textile techniques, while supporting artisan communities. By thoughtfully curating collections for local retailers, she seamlessly blends tradition with modern demand.
Devika’s creativity is deeply rooted in her childhood. Her mother, a profound influence, introduced a young Devika to the world of folk art and artisans during their travels to Kutch, West India-a region renowned for its cultural heritage and traditional crafts. It became a place of inspiration that would shape Devika’s lifelong passion for textiles and artistry.
Honoring the Craft

What started as an idea to help preserve these traditional techniques, soon blossomed into a collection of thoughtfully designed pieces for modern lifestyles. The very nature of working with small scale manufacturers and traditional methods aligns with Peaceware’s commitment to eco-friendly practices and fair-trade principles.
“I travel to the artisan workshops myself” she explains. “I’m there, understanding how they work and meeting their families”.
Devika places great importance on building strong relationships with local U.S. retailers. “Understanding their needs is integral to my creative process,” she explains. “It’s what continually inspires me to design and develop new products.”
Peaceware accessories and home décor are available online and at select markets and stores in the Lake Norman and Charlotte area, including Moxie Mercantile, a long-time supporter of the brand.
